Important Tire and Wheel Care for Your Mazda

We here at Mazcare cannot stress enough how important it is that you take care of your Mazda’s tires and wheels. It’s just as important as taking care of its engine. There are a couple of things that you can do to ensure your tires are healthy, and there are a few things we can do to make sure you get the most out of them. Let’s talk about this tire and wheel care below.

Air Check

Look inside your driver’s door to see the recommended pounds-per-square-inch or psi for your tires. Then, grab a tire gauge and check the air in your tires and the spare every two weeks. If the tires need to have air added to them, add only the amount that brings it up to the recommended psi. Do not overinflate your tires. This can damage them.

Inspection

While you are checking the air, also inspect the tire tread and the sides of the tires for signs of damage. Look for nails or other debris inside the tread, and also keep an eye out for uneven tire tread wear. Once you’ve inspected the tread, check the sides of the tires for bubbling, cracking, or other signs of problems. If your tires look damaged, it’s important to have them professionally inspected right away.

Rotation

To extend the life of your tire tread and make sure that it wears down evenly, have your tires rotated every 6,000 miles to 7,500 miles. Some people also have their tires rotated every other oil change because this makes it easy for them to remember. Rotating the tires regularly keeps them healthy.

Wheel Balance

Have the wheels balanced when you have the tires rotated to ensure that the wheel weight is even across the axles. Signs that your wheels are not balanced include vibration that gets worse as you pick up speed and the wobbling noise that accompanies it. If you are experiencing this when you drive, bring your Mazda to our shop for a wheel balance right away.

Wheel Alignment

Finally, you need to have your Mazda’s wheels aligned every two years. Don’t go longer than this. If you knock them out of alignment beforehand, get them aligned then. The reason why this is so important is that misaligned wheels will chew up your tire tread.
