Signs I’ve Blown My Mazda’s Head Gasket

Mazcare can help if you have blown your Mazda’s head gasket. Excess engine temperatures weaken the head gasket and cause it to fail, so it is crucial that you do not drive your Mazda if it is overheating. Once the head gasket is blown, the most a will overheat constantly. We will talk more about this below. In fact, let’s talk about all of the signs that the Mazda’s head gasket is cracked.

Overheating Engine

The engine is going to overheat because there will be instant coolant loss. Once the head gasket blows, pressurized coolant sprays throughout the engine. As we mentioned above, the head gasket may blow because the engine is already overheating, but the blown head gasket is going to increase the engine’s temperature to dangerous levels. Stop driving your Mazda right away.

Boiling Engine Coolant

In fact, the engine may get so hot that it starts to boil the coolant that remains in the radiator and the overflow reservoir. You will be able to hear the boiling coming from the engine. We cannot stress enough how crucial it is that you do not drive your Mazda when the engine is this hot. Doing so can blow the radiator, crack the cylinder block, or crack the exhaust manifold gasket.

Low Coolant Level

As we mentioned above, the coolant level in the engine will be reduced by the cracked head gasket because the coolant will start to spray throughout the engine. This isn’t like losing coolant because you have a cooling system leak. You won’t have coolant leaking onto the garage floor. Rather, the coolant will mix with other automotive fluids and be burned away by the hot engine.

Milky Motor Oil

One of the automotive fluids that the coolant is going to mix with is the motor oil. This is another reason why you need to avoid driving your Mazda when it has a cracked head gasket. The mixture of oil and coolant will damage the engine beyond repair as it circulates through it.

White Exhaust Smoke

Finally, as the engine burns away the coolant that is spraying all over it, it will release white exhaust smoke out of the tailpipe. Because the engine is so hot, you will also likely see white smoke wafting from underneath the hood. Rather than drive your Mazda to our shop, have the vehicle towed.
